FLOATING ACCOMMODATION BUSINESS FOR SALE

Due to recent ill health, Island Charters is not taking bookings at present.

Island Charters as a business is now for sale. If you are interested in running a marine accommodation business on the Isle of Wight, please contact:

John Gallop: 01983 882 315 or 0788 903 88 77

Island Charters is a well established business and would provide a great opportunity for a well motivated individual to break into the accommodation market.

Alternatively, since both boats are seaworthy, they can be moved in order to relocate the business and/or to use them for accommodation. Newclose has two engines in perfect working order and may be used to tow Seawasp, which has no engine. Both are well maintained.

ABOUT OUR FLOATING ACCOMMODATION (Isle of Wight)

Hello I’m John Gallop, I own Island Charters B & B Floatels. I’ve worked with boats all my life and have enjoyed restoring both Newclose and Sea Wasp, along with many others over the years.
We are a small business run by my wife, Pauline and myself.

Starting in 1980, originally chartering to divers, who wished to dive around the coastal waters of the Isle of Wight. There are many shipwrecks that have lain on the seabed, for centuries, which still cause much interest. When Newclose came out of service, I decided to turn her into a static accommodation barge, moored permanently on the water. It proved so popular with passing trade such as walkers and cyclists, that in 1991 I decided to convert another vessel, Sea Wasp, moored alongside. We are situated on a tidal creek, in the small village of Wootton bridge, which sits on the north coast of the Isle of Wight.

Wootton Creek Isle of Wight home of Island Charters B & B FloatelsReachable on the main Newport to Ryde, road (A3054), Wootton has a pretty little creek on one side of the bridge, on the other side a picturesque Millpond which boasts kingfishers, herons and egrets. There is a newly opened pub and restaurant within walking distance of our boats and further into the village, there is a mini supermarket, two other pubs, also Chinese and Indian take away's and good old English fish and chips. Wootton has its own heritage trail, with its 11th century church.

Other interesting attractions nearby, include, Havenstreet Steam Railway, Quarr Abbey, Butterfly World and Firestone copse with picnic sites and lovely views over the Millpond. The Wightlink car ferry terminal is right next door to us in Fishbourne.
